National Day of Prayer
IT IS LAW!
§ 119. National Day of Prayer
The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating
the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which
the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and
meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals.
In 1952 a law was passed requiring the president to set aside
a day of his choosing for prayer and in 1988 a law was passed
in both houses and signed by President Reagan setting the first
Thursday in May as the National day of Prayer. More than anything
else God wants us to communicate with Him and we do this through
prayer, for our world, nation, homes and family and in thanksgiving.
Prayer is the most powerful weapon available to bring God's
blessing to our country. Please plan to join me as we celebrate
this
opportunity to join together with pastors and others at noon
on Thursday, May 3rd at the bandstand in Weaverville to ask
Gods covering and blessing for the United States. This is organized
by the Trinity County Ministerial Association.
May God continue to bless you all, Judy Smallwood, Chaplain
